Experience:

January 2004 to Present: Assistant Professor/Extension Grains Specialist, Virginia Tech, Blacksburg , VA. Responsibilities: P rovide state-wide leadership in developing client-focused, innovative, and highly visible extension and research programs in production and management of corn, small grains, and sorghum for grain and silage. W ork closely with Virginia Cooperative Extension Agents, the Virginia Corn Growers, the Virginia Small Grain Growers Associations and other associations in the development and delivery of educational programs. Provide information and educational opportunities to grains producers on profitable cropping systems, evaluations and recommendations on multiple classes and varieties of wheat and barley for human food, feed, fuel and other alternative value added end uses, and cultivar selection and fertilization through extension and research programs. Conduct the statewide corn hybrid testing program and work cooperatively with the small grains breeder to conduct and publish results from the statewide variety testing program.

August 2001 to December 2003: Soil Fertility and Crops Specialist, Samuel R. Noble Foundation, Ardmore , OK . Responsibilities: Provide decision support in the form of information application through consultation and other educational activities for farmers and ranchers with the NF service area. The primary focus is work with a team of specialists from several agricultural disciplines to provide technical assistance to farmers, ranchers, and other natural resource managers. Facilitate research, demonstration, and other educational and developmental projects with groups and individual producers.

August 1999 to August 2001: Senior Agriculturist, Department of Plant and Soil Sciences, Oklahoma State University . Responsibilities: Design, implementation, and management of statewide soil fertility research experiments including wheat, alfalfa, cotton, sorghum, peanuts, soybeans, bluestem, bermudagrass, corn, and water quality. Duties include: planting, tillage, fertilization, pest control, and harvest of all crops, data management, statistical analysis and evaluation of data, laboratory analysis, preparation of articles for publication in professional journals, coordinating activities for a large staff of project assistants and graduate students, equipment and shop supervision.
